This year marks a very special milestone for Prescott Public Library as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our beloved library here on Goodwin Street. To commemorate this milestone, we’ve planned a series of exciting events and activities leading up to our big celebration:
Fest in the West on Friday, May 30 from 5-8 pm!
Tell Us Your Library Story
Has the Prescott Public Library helped you in a memorable chapter of your life? Tell us your library story. Share a favorite library memory, how the library made a difference to you, or what you like most. Perhaps you grew up with the library and enjoyed storytime or looked forward to participating in Summer Reading programs. Maybe a librarian got you hooked on a favorite book series or helped you find crucial information when you needed it. Bobbi recently shared, “My library has given me many hours of enjoyment by making books on my phone available to me. I am 85 years old, don’t drive, & don’t get around really well, so having my books come to me is such a blessing & joy! Thank you so much for making them available to me!”
We would also love copies of any photos you have of the library or library programs. Please email them to ask.librarian@prescott-az.gov and include your name and contact information.
Did You Know?
The City of Prescott has proudly operated a public library since 1917, when the Monday Club deeded the Carnegie Library on Gurley Street to the city, where it provided services for nearly 60 years. It was in the 1970’s that our growing community recognized the need for a larger space. Thanks to the support of a citizen-led fundraising campaign alongside city funding, our current library was constructed and opened its doors in late May 1975.
