TAG Presents: 2026 Youth Writing Contest: Secrets We Keep

Do you enjoy writing short stories? Put your imagination to work and enter our annual writing contest for Prescott area youth ages 12-17! The 2026 theme is Secrets We Keep. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded, with stories published on the library’s website.

2026 Youth Writing Contest Winners!

So many secrets and so many entries! This year the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) received 23 writing submissions centered on the theme “Secrets We Keep”. All submissions were judged by a group of 14 members of TAG.

The winners for this year’s contest were 1st place Aspen Butler for her story, “ Your Secret’s Safe with Me”; 2nd place Gwen Herbert for her story “Lake Tsalka” , and 3rd place Eliana Ritchie for her story “Clockwork”.
In addition, two honorable mentions were given to Louis Ford and his story “The Eyes of the Dread” and Jackie Jian for her story “E Pluribus Unum”.

A celebration for all contestants and winners will be held Saturday, March 7 at 10 am in the James Room. Winners will receive Amazon gift cards, and all participants will receive a $10 gift certificate to the library’s book sale.

Thank you to all the youth who submitted. We look forward to seeing what you’ll write for us next year. Thank you to the Friends of the Prescott Public Library for sponsoring the contest and providing funding for the award celebration of winners.
