Youth Events In The Spotlight!

  • Winter Reading Challenge — Cozy up with good books this winter and earn sweet rewards! Beginning January 2, youth in grades K-12 can pick up a Winter Reading Bookmark at the Youth Desk and get reading! Log the books you read from January 2 to February 28 to earn a free frozen custard and a free kid’s meal courtesy of Culver’s of Prescott. Complete the reading challenge and receive a FREE book prize thanks to generous funding from the Friends of the Prescott Public Library.
  • Youth Writing Contest — Enter our annual writing contest for Prescott area youth, ages 12-16! Full contest guidelines and entry forms are available at the Youth Desk and may also be downloaded here. The submission deadline is February 7.   • An Evening Q&A with Bestselling Author Dusti Bowling — On Thursday, January 30 at 5:30 pm, meet the author of award-winning children’s books Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus, 24 Hours in Nowhere, The Canyon’s Edge and many others! Bestselling author Dusti Bowling will share her writing journey and answer your questions. Door prizes and light refreshments provided. For all ages. Seating is on a first-come basis.
  • Winnie the Pooh Teddy Bear Picnic — Celebrate Winnie-the-Pooh Day with an indoor picnic at the library! On Saturday, January 18 at 2 pm, sit on blankets, snack on Winnie-the-Pooh approved snacks, share a story, decorate paper crowns, and leave with a special party favor for each child ages 0-12. Space is limited, so make your group’s registration today. Register at the Youth Desk or call 928.777.1537.
  • Teen Time – Service Hours — Beginning Thursday, January 23, teens ages 12-18 can earn service hours by assisting library staff with a variety of projects! Teen Time – Service Hours takes place on the 4th Thursday of the month from 3-5 pm in the Teen Zone.
