It happened in the library! What happened in the library? The 2025 Youth Writing Contest hosted by the Teen Advisory Group! In gearing up for Prescott Public Library’s 50 years on Goodwin Street celebration, youth ages of 12-16 were invited to submit a short story between 1200-1500 words using four key words: sparkle, lei, grandpa, and Rubik’s Cube to write an original story of any genre utilizing the theme “It Happened in the Library.”
Over 20 stories were submitted and the Teen Advisory Group, made up of 14 teens, judged for creativity, originality, and adherence to the guidelines. Awards were given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places with winners receiving VISA gift cards valued at $75, $50, and $40 respectively.
The winners for this year’s contest were first place Lily Merrill for her story “Sanctuary” second place Brielle Bates for her story “The Loving Librarian”, and third place Adalyn Fox for her story “Dear Diary, Love Nancy”.
A celebration for all contestants and winners will be held Saturday, March 1 at 10 am in the James Room.
