
We are thrilled to announce that our AAC iPads—iPads equipped with specialized Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) software—are now available for checkout!
The AAC iPads are designed to support nonverbal individuals of all ages by offering powerful tools that help express thoughts, needs, and emotions: the TouchChat app and the LAMP Words for Life app. Whether someone is navigating speech challenges due to autism, stroke, or other conditions, these two apps include touch-based communication boards, customizable vocabulary options, and voice output features to support communication and connection. Things you should know:
- AAC iPads have been modified to support communication through the TouchChat and LAMP Words for Life apps. Access to other apps and to the App Store has been turned off.
- You must be 18 years or older with a valid library card from a Yavapai Library Network library and a government-issued photo ID to checkout an AAC iPad.
- Only one AAC iPad can be checked out per person.
- AAC iPads must be picked up and returned to the Youth Desk at Prescott Public Library.
- Items can be placed on hold.
- Overdue fees are $1 PER DAY.
- Items checkout for 3 weeks and can be renewed if there are no holds.
